Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic game secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
